Dairy Herd 2021 WV state fair

Best dairy herd in show (milked out)

Welcome to Meraki Dairy Goats!

We are located in Chillicothe, Ohio and we raise show quality ADGA registered Nigerians. All of our kids are raised on pasteurized milk from our herd, all of which are tested Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis (CAE) negative. We are ADGA Plus members, our herd participates in the ADGA linear appraisal program, DHIR program, and we are currently working on DNA typing members of our herd. We do have Alpines and Saanens as well, they are under the herdname of Rosewinds dairy goats, visit their website as well!

Meraki was originally established in 2012 with the herdname Flowering Goat Farm and continued under that name while we raised Boer goats in addition to all of the dairy goats. In April of 2018 we sold out our Boer herd to focus on the dairy goats and decided it was time for a change, so we changed our herdname and transferred all of the Alpines into our daughter Alexandrea's name. All of the does still reside together as one, but with 2 herdnames. Any animals that carry the FGF5 herdname are our breedings, they were bred and born before the name change.

We attended our first ADGA show in 2013 with one Alpine doe, we then added the LaManchas that same year at our second ADGA show. The first little Nigerian came along in 2016 and she stole our hearts!

In 2016 we attended our first ADGA National show in Harrisburg, PA. We traveled with 9 does to the National show. One of our home-bred LaMancha does, FGF5 CKMP Dazzlin' Diva placed 3rd in a large class of intermediate kids! We were very proud of that accomplishment for our small, young herd. Diva has also became our first home-bred champion doe, an EX91 doe, also earning her Advanced Registry milk star, and Superior Genetics. Our little Nigerian, CUAtLilRedBarn Jersey, was 10th place Intermediate Nigerian kid in 2016.

We attended the National show again in 2018 in Columbus, OH. For LaManchas, our yearling milker, FGF5 MLA Andromeda, was 11th place and her daughter, Meraki MLRA Aurora was 17th jr kid. We exhibited one recorded grade, Meraki MLRA Zepharya, and she placed 3rd jr kid. For our Nigerians, Jersey was 14th and her daughter FGF5 Legacy Jasper was 8th place yearling milker at just 9 days fresh! CUAtLilRedBarn River Dancer was 12th jr yearling as well. We had another good national show!

In the Spring of 2021 we decided to sell our LaMancha herd, we retained one doe which was Diva. All other LaMancha does now reside in their new homes.

We hope you enjoy viewing the Meraki herd and thank you for your interest!
